I would like to start by expressing my deepest gratitude to all our shareholders for their continued patronage.
Thanks to everyone's support, in 2023 Zoom was able to celebrate its 40th anniversary, an important milestone. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to our shareholders, our customers and all our stakeholders for their warm support. Since our establishment in 1983, we have been active as a fabless (without our own production facilities) manufacturer developing electronic equipment that allows users to fully enjoy "sound" and "music." As such, we have given a significant contribution to the work of different creators over the world, from instrument players like guitarists and bassists to sound designers, music producers, videographers and web distributors, by offering them innovative products.
In recent years, with the expansion of the creator economy allowing individual creators to earn an income by offering their own work to the public, a growing number of people have become interested in "self-expression." Besides relying on technology developed over the past 40 years with a particular focus on digital signal processing technology, as well as a keen eye (ear) for music in the constant pursuit of good sound, we also make the most of the imaginative power of our employees who have first-hand experience of music-based creative activities, a know-how no other company can boast, to meet the needs of a growing number of creators.
At the same time, we're also aware of the importance of initiatives to inform aspiring creators, that is potential new customers, of the existence of Zoom products.
Our fourth medium-term business plan (2024-2026), which goes into effect in 2024, in addition to various initiatives to make the most of the above opportunity, including strengthening our branding, achieving sustainable growth, strengthening profitability and returning profits to shareholders, also includes new challenges that go beyond the framework within which Zoom has been operating until now, such as the development of products and services that incorporate AI and the cloud.
Zoom's business domain is "audio equipment for self-expression" and creators are our main target. We believe that supporting the activities of creators means supporting activities that allow people to live fulfilling lives as human beings, strengthen the bonds between different people, and expand cultural diversity.
In order to promote forward-looking business development and fulfill our social mission, experimentation and open innovation are also important. Never forgetting our core identity and what Zoom stands for, we will keep striving to create an organization that can act in flexible and bold ways.
We look forward to your continued support and guidance.
